TOKYO (AP) - Typhoon Bart slammed Japan's main southwestern island of Kyushu, killing at least four people, police said Friday. News reports said dozens of people were injured and hundreds of thousands of homes left without power. Bart, packing winds of up to 89 mph, was near the southwestern coast of the main island of Honshu by late Friday morning, the Meteorological Agency said. It was moving at 34 mph to the northeast. It was expected to pass over the Sea of Japan before shooting over the northern island of Hokkaido on Saturday, the agency said. It was likely to miss Tokyo. The typhoon made landfall around dawn Friday near Kumamoto, 560 miles southwest of Tokyo.
