ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) - A quake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 hit western Turkey early Tuesday, Turkey's Kandilli Observatory said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The quake struck at 12:28 a.m. (5:28 p.m. EDT Monday) and was centered in Tekirdag, the semiofficial Anatolia news agency quoted officials of the Istanbul-based institute as saying. The governor of Tekirdag, Zeki Senal, said there were no reports of casualties, injuries or damage in the city. The temblor was felt in Istanbul, where inhabitants fled to the streets in a panic. Tekirdag is 80 miles west of Istanbul.
