Heavy snow hits Eastern Europe...01/24/00

PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AP) - Heavy snowfall and fierce winds continued to inundate parts of eastern and southeastern Europe Sunday, triggering several deadly car accidents. In Serbia, an official with the Radicals, the nationalist party that supports Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, was killed when a bus traveling to Belgrade swerved off the highway, a radio report said. Zoran Sretenovic was one of two people who died in the crash near the southern Serbian town of Kursumlija, several miles from the capital, B2-92 radio said. Fifteen others were injured, the report said. In the Czech Republic, a car speeding on an icy road near the town of Breclav, 150 miles southeast of Prague, crashed into a truck parked by the side of the road, police said. Two people were killed and two others seriously injured, police said.
