Earthquake Reported Near Cairo...12/28/99

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - A moderate earthquake struck near Cairo Tuesday, Egypt's Seismological Center reported. The earthquake, which registered a magnitude of 4.8, was centered 110 miles north of Cairo, center's officials said. Quakes measuring 5 can cause considerable damage. The tremor occurred at 2:07 p.m. and was felt in Cairo and other nearby cities. No injuries or damage was immediately reported.
