CHICAGO (AP) - Cooler temperatures brought some relief Monday to the scorching heat that has struck much of the Midwest and East, but the death toll kept rising. The nationwide total since July 19 is at least 213 deaths attributed to the heat. After almost two weeks of unbearable temperatures, most Chicagoans are returning to normal life. On Monday, a day after the heat finally broke, Midway Airport reached a high of 81 degrees - 23 degrees lower than Friday's high temperature of 104 degrees there. Temperatures in central Illinois were around 80 degrees Monday, and southern Illinois was a few degrees warmer.
